comfort:fortは、ラテン語foris「強い」が語源。comfort(con-強調+fort)(例えば、挫折した心を強くする)→慰める。
comfortable(疲れた身体や心を慰めることができる)→「快適な、安楽な」。
fortify「強化する、元気づける」、fortitude「我慢強さ、不屈の精神」、forte「強み、得意」等がある。
